CBS DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers will take the field Thursday for the series finale of their four-game set with the New York Yankees without starting first baseman Miguel Cabrera, starting right fielder Torii Hunter and starting shortstop Eugenio Suarez.

For Cabrera, there is no long-term concern; Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said he just gave Cabrera a day off, according to Chris Iott of MLive.

Hunter is still ailing after getting plunked on the hand by a pitch Tuesday and remains day-to-day.

Suarez is available to play after spraining his knee during an awkward slide Monday, Iott reports, but the young shortstop has been left off the lineup in favor of Andrew Romine, who has hits in each of the last two games - a home run Tuesday and a double and a single Wednesday.

Romine's offense has been especially valuable in recent days because the Tigers as a team have struggled to score runs against the Yankees. In the two games the Tigers have lost this series, Detroit has managed just two runs total.
