CBS DETROIT - Just a few days after the Detroit Pistons announced that guard Brandon Jennings would miss the rest of the season after rupturing his left Achilles tendon, Jennings has tweeted that he had surgery and that the procedure went well.
"Successful Surgery," Jennings wrote. "Thanks for the love & support. I appreciate it!"
The Pistons have yet to give a timetable for his return.
After Detroit started the season with a miserable record of 5-23, Jennings led the team's resurgence. Detroit won seven straight and had not lost back-to-back games since Dec. 21 before the team fell against Milwaukee and Toronto over the weekend. Jennings was averaging 15.4 points and 6.6 assists when he suffered the injury.
After it happened, Jennings posted on Twitter an encouraging message to his teammates.
"We gotta just keep pushin' WE (Pistons) worked to hard to get down about anything right now," Jennings wrote. "We gotta stay focus on the main Goal. Playoffs!"
The guard also called his teammates to take on the challenge of replacing him - the team's leading scorer - as they go through the rest of the season.
"It's a opportunity for someone else now to step up and ball out," Jennings wrote. "Let's keep it Rollin' Fellas."
