Detroit Pistons fans have celebrated their team's early-season success (16-12 record) but have eagerly been awaiting the return of point guard Brandon Jennings, who has been recovering from a torn Achilles tendon suffered in January.
Jennings returned to the court on Saturday night for the Grand Rapids Drive, the Pistons' Developmental League affiliate. He played with a minutes restriction but showed just how dynamic his game is, opening the contest with an off-the-backboard pass to a teammate.
Jennings would go on to finish with 11 points and 12 assists in 27 minutes. Pistons players Reggie Bullock and Darrun Hilliard were also assigned to play with the team in the game against the Iowa Energy.
Fans poured out to see the Pistons' presumed backup point guard return to form. The team announced that over 6,200 people were in attendance at the DeltaPlex, including Stan Van Gundy, Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond.
Drummond took to the court before the second quarter to recreate the halfcourt shot he sank against the Boston Celtics.
Jennings is aiming to return to the Pistons lineup sometime after Christmas.
