Boil water advisory issued for Livonia lifted

(CBS DETROIT) - A boil water advisory that was issued Wednesday for a portion of Livonia due to a mechanical malfunction has been lifted.

The boil water advisory impacted Seven Mile Road south to Joy Road and Wayne Road east to Inkster Road. Residents living in those impacted areas are asked to run their cold water in the residences or buildings for around one minute in order to provide a quick flush of their pipes.

City officials say low water pressure was reported for about 30 minutes Wednesday morning until about 9:10 a.m.

Water sample tests conducted by the Great Lakes Water Authority came back negative for contamination.

There was a malfunction in a pressure valve, but the cause of the malfunction has not been determined.
