Body Found In SW Pennsylvania River Might Have Connections To Michigan
AMBRIDGE, Pa. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities trying to identify the body of a man found in a southwest Pennsylvania river say he might have connections to the Ann Arbor area in Michigan.
The body was discovered around 2 p.m. Monday in the Ohio River near Ambridge, about 20 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. Police say workers unloading a nearby barge at Port Ambridge Industrial Park made the discovery.
Beaver County Coroner Teri Tatalovich-Rossi said it appears the man's body had been in the water for weeks, but they have no clue who he is. She said the results of an autopsy are pending the completion of tests on body tissues and fluids.
The body is that of a white man in his 30s, about 6'2" tall and 230 pounds. He was wearing a yellow "Livestrong" bracelet and a bracelet that said "Ann Arbor police," which officials here in Michigan say hasn't been issued in about 15 years.
An investigation is ongoing.
