Bicyclist Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Hazel Park
HAZEL PARK (WWJ) - Police in Hazel Park are searching for a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene after fatally striking a bicyclist.
The accident happened around 11 p.m. Monday near Woodward Heights Boulevard and John R, between 9 Mile and 10 Mile roads.
According to police, a 54-year-old man was crossing John R on his bicycle just north of the crosswalk when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV.
The man was rushed to Beaumont Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The SUV, which was headed north on John R., continued driving after the collision.
The victim's name has not yet been released. An investigation is ongoing.
