Michigan's popular outdoor music venues are home to some of music's biggest names, and most are in the Detroit region. The Meadow Brook Amphitheatere is located on the Oakland University campus. The venue holds 7,700 for not only concerts spanning multiple genres, but for family friendly shows and concerts as well. Taking over management and marketing, Palace Sports & Entertainment acquired the venue in 1994 and has since made dramatic improvements including sound and additional seating. Meadow Brook this summer will host The 1975, who recently had their first No. 1 album on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, Paul Simon, WALK THE MOON, Bryan Adams and Ray LaMontagne.

Freedom Hill Amphitheatere was acquired by Palace Sports & Entertainment in November 2015 and joins the company's growing list of venues it manages in the Detroit region. Freedom Hill is more or less a smaller version of DTE Energy Music Theatre, holding 7,200 people with both lawn and pavilion seating. In 2016, Freedom Hill will see the Goo Goo Dolls, Yanni, The Beach Boys and The Four Tops and Kool and the Gang hit the stage.

Though it's a drive up I-75, Soaring Eagle Casino is notable because it is much more than just a resort for gambling. Of course the casino has its entertainment venue on the grounds, but it also features an outdoor venue for weather appropriate concerts. Darius Rucker is set to hit the stage in 2016 along with Florida Georgia Line in June. Adding to the entertainment value, Soaring Eagle also has a water park for kids to enjoy.

Comerica Park is more than just a stadium for an occasional large tour, Comerica Park is now home to the Detroit Tigers baseball team. Opened in 2000, the Comerica headquarters now reside in Dallas, Texas, but the company still plays a vital role in the open-air stadium. Comerica Park seats 41,574 currently and draws the crowd when the Tigers play home games. Musical acts that have played at Comerica include KISS and Aerosmith, Jay-Z, Paul McCartney, Eminem and Rihanna and Jimmy Buffet, the latter playing his first large concert in 2012.

DTE Energy Music Theatre is the place to be in summer. DTE has the capacity for over 15,000 concert attendees, and at the time of opening in June 1972, it was the largest amphitheater in the country holding 12,500. With discount lawn tickets found all over southeastern Michigan, friends can get together for a show for less than $20. DTE is one of the most common places to see artists from pop to rock to old classic rock 'n roll. The venue features a private access lounge for food and premium beverages, along with exclusive parking for those ticket holders. Each year, DTE releases a guide to preview upcoming concerts through the season.
