Theater Bizarre is a one-of-a-kind night out at the Masonic Temple theater in Detroit. Tickets sell out fast so make sure to reserve yours ASAP; they're $65-$75 for the actual event or $200 for the Preview Gala, which is a more intimate gathering. Theater Bizarre calls itself the "greatest masquerade on earth," and it's a combination of what could be considered sideshow events with "adult" dancing, cinema and more. Costumes are mandatory, and the Preview Gala has more stringent rules, too; make sure to read the Dress Code Policy before buying tickets.

If you're looking for a good time in downtown Royal Oak this October, check out the Ghosts & Goblins Gala, held the weekend before Halloween at the Farmers Market. Craft beers, wines and vodkas, as well as foods, will be served from local area restaurants. The Aaron Vaughn Band will be in attendance, and there will be a photo booth, silent auction and raffles for prize drawings. Tickets are $50 for alcoholic beverages and food samples or $25 for designated drivers (no alcoholic beverages). The gala is also a charity event for Kenya Relief.

The Halloween Monster Bash, presented by Motor City Nightmares, is held annually at the Novi Sheraton. Last year, there was live music, a zombie pin-up girl pageant, a costume contest, prizes and a movie double-feature. Costumes are required, and tickets can be bought early online for $25 (general admission) or $50 (premium admission).

The Twilight Zone 4D is back again for 2014, this time at The Garden Theater in Detroit. It's billed as "Michigan's largest interactive Halloween experience," and lets its guests "see, hear, touch, and smell the images projected onto the building's decor." The theater will be divided into three themed rooms, and there will be six DJs in total spread throughout. Woodward Entertainment Group brings you this party, and will be using the latest technology to enhance its displays. Sets include horror films, special effects and a "Fifty Shades of Grey"-inspired room.

Bleu Detroit brings back its Nightmare on Woodward party this year, presented by the club and Local City Scene. Tickets range from $10-$25 (depending how late into the party you buy them) and can be bought at wantickets.com; buying tickets ahead of time is highly recommended. The party will feature Detroit's top DJs, and is the party to go to if you want to go out on the actual date of Halloween.
