Baggage Handler's Death At Detroit Metro Airport Ruled An Accident

ROMULUS (WWJ/AP) - An autopsy has determined that an American Airlines contract employee died of multiple injuries from an accident near a bag belt loader at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus.

Mary Mazur, a spokeswoman for the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office, said the death of 24-year-old VonDre Gordon has been ruled accidental.

Gordon was injured around 5 a.m. Friday and later died at a hospital.

Airport spokesman Michael Conway said Gordon was getting ready to load items onto a plane bound for Dallas-Fort Worth when the accident occurred. Authorities haven't said exactly how the accident happened.

Gordon was a contract worker for Des Plaines, Illinois-based Prospect Airport Services, which is continuing to investigate the accident.
