Authorities To Seek Restitution After Milford Debris Fire
MILFORD TOWNSHIP AP) -- Fire officials in Milford Township plan to seek restitution for costs associated with a landscaping fire that took several days to put out.
WHMI-FM reports Saturday that authorities believe they may know who started the blaze and want them to pay up.
The debris fire in Milford Township was the size of a football field and burned from Nov. 11-14. Crews from six area departments and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources battled the blaze. Seventeen tanker trucks, pumpers and other vehicles were used.
The blaze is believed to have started from an illegal burn that spread from an adjacent property to the field where a landscaping company had been collecting tree branches, stumps and wood construction debris for mulch.
