Authorities: 3 Students May Be Responsible For Fires
SANDSTONE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say three students may be responsible for fires set at an unoccupied house and a barn on a Michigan school district's property.
Monday morning's fires in Jackson County's Sandstone Township were ruled suspicious, since they occurred at the same time. Both structures were owned by Western School District reported the Jackson Citizen Patriot.
No one was injured.
Police say three potential suspects, all students at Western High School, had reportedly skipped classes and bragged about setting the fires. Police found the three nearby and turned them over to a school official. The juveniles were released into the custody of their parents.
Prosecutors were expected to review the case. The house and metal barn were among several structures on a 35-acre property sold to the school district in 2002.
