Losing Weight

When thinking about losing weight, set a goal of two or three pounds of fat a week. Much of weight loss in the beginning is water weight, so focusing on fat pounds is a good goal. Approximately 3,500 calories equal one pound of weight. But don't cut calories just to cut calories. If a diet recommends that you eat 1,200 calories, run the other way. The best diet is one where you are eating healthy foods and eating nutritious food every few hours. The bottom line is that in order to lose weight you need to eat less calories than you burn.

Working Out

Set realistic fitness goals. Workouts combining high intensity with low intensity are those that have your metabolism working all day, and therefore allow you to burn calories all day. Try to fit in three days a week of cardiovascular exercise for 30 to 40 minutes a day. As you get more into a routine, you'll find that you can increase the minutes or how many times you exercise. Eventually, you can start adding resistance training to your routine. What is most important, however, is to get yourself into a routine of exercise; so no matter how you have to start, do it!

Buddy System

It's a proven fact that people who work out with other people tend to stick with an exercise program. So buddy up! Body Beautiful Boot Camps use this idea at their core, because people who are at the same fitness level and are committed to making a change offer a support system. Whether it is a boot camp, another program or just getting a family member or neighbor to share their health and fitness goals with you, there is more of a chance both of you will be successful.

Something You Enjoy

Whether it is biking or cross-country skiing or joining a boot camp, fitness should be fun and not a chore. When you are working out and watching what you eat, enjoy it as you go along; that is important! By enjoying what you do, there is no reason you can't be following this year's resolution plan by next year January.

Good Health and Fitness

Get back to the roots with nature by spending time outside and eating healthy. Being outside and breathing fresh air is good for the brain; the exercise is great for the body; and there is something invigorating about being outside. Next, don't be afraid to eat raw fruits and vegetables. Natural food is the best source of nourishment for your body. Make fitness a priority. Without good health, fitness and a plan to follow, it is impossible to reach your goals. Make everything about your health a priority: change eating habits, revise fitness routines, get organized. By making an action plan for your health and fitness now, you will forever change your life.
