Annual Blood Drive At Michigan Stadium Gets Big Results

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - An annual drive to get blood donations and commitments from organ donors got some big results at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.

The University of Michigan hosted "Be a Hero at the Big House" on Sunday.

Organizers say the American Red Cross collected 416 units of blood, marking the school's biggest one-day campus blood drive. Last year, 404 units of blood were collected at Michigan Stadium.

Signups also were taken for organ donors and the national bone marrow registry.

Michigan and Ohio State University are competing in the weeks before the Nov. 26 football game between the Wolverines and Buckeyes in Columbus, Ohio. The blood drive is called "Blood Battle" and Ohio State has won the last two blood drive competitions.
