Altercation Ends With Gunfire Outside Southfield Hookah Lounge

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - An altercation outside a hookah lounge in Southfield ended in gunfire and now, police are trying to identify the gunman.

The incident took place shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 16 at Burn Hookah Lounge on Northwestern Highway, near Franklin Road just south of 12 Mile Road.

According to police, two groups of people were involved in an altercation near the entrance of the lounge that was broken up by security. Shortly thereafter, the groups were in the parking lot when shots were fired by an unknown suspect. Both groups then fled the scene.

Police say rounds struck the glass window of the business and an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot. No one was injured.

Police reviewed security footage and identified at least one person who might have fired a handgun in the parking lot.

The suspect is described as a 20- to 25-year-old black male, 5'8" to 5'11" tall with a short, thin beard. He was wearing light-colored clothing and a ball cap at the time.
