Agent: Buffalo Bills Release Cornerback Leodis McKelvin

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Veteran cornerback Leodis McKelvin has been released by the Buffalo Bills in the team's latest cost-cutting move.
The move was confirmed to The Associated Press on Friday by McKelvin's agent Hadley Engelhard.
The eight-year veteran was entering the final year of his contract and due to make a $3.1 million base salary. McKelvin's contract was deemed too expensive for a backup, and for a team seeking to free up space under the salary cap before the start of the NFL's free-agency period on Wednesday.
McKelvin was Buffalo's first-round pick in the 2008 draft and also doubled as return specialist.
NFL.com first reported the move.
