911 Service Restored After Outage In Oakland County

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A technical issue that caused a disruption in 911 services in Oakland County on Thursday has been resolved.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Department said, Thursday afternoon, the Sheriff's Office Operations Center was experiencing a technical problem which disrupted all telephone communications. Additional phone lines were established for those who needed to contact Oakland County 911 or the Sheriff's Office Operations Center.

After a couple of hours, the county said 911 service had been restored in Oakland County. By around 3 p.m., service was back to normal.

Officials said a third-party vendor had installed new software which caused the malfunction. They were meeting with that vendor later in the day.
