Pedestrian Killed In Crash On 8 Mile Road In Warren

WARREN (WWJ) - Authorities say a 56-year-old Detroit woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Warren.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday on 8 Mile Road at Waltham Street, just east of Grosebeck Highway.

Police say a 64-year-old Center Line resident was traveling westbound on 8 Mile when they struck the woman. Reports say the woman was pinned underneath the vehicle for quite some time before emergency workers were able to rescue her.

The woman, whose name was not released, was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

Police say although the investigation is still ongoing, it does not appear the driver was at fault and alcohol is not a factor.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated, but has since reopened.
