60-Year-Old Man In Star Wars Costume Tried To Meet Child For Sex, Investigators Say
MT. CLEMENS (WWJ) - A 60-year-old Canton man is behind bars after authorities say he was caught, dressed in a Halloween costume, attempting to meet a child for sex.
Computer Crime Investigators with the Macomb County Sheriff's Office arrested Daniel Gene Fritz on two counts of child sexual abusive activity — a 20-year felony —and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
According to Sheriff Anthony Wickersham, undercover detectives began chatting online with Fritz after he posted an ad on a social media website that "was highly indicative of child sexual exploitation."
After "a lengthy investigation," detectives arranged to meet Fritz at predetermined time and location. Fritz, who Sheriff's official say believed he was going to meet a child there for sex, was arrested at the scene and taken to the Macomb County Jail.
In a selfie-style photo provided by the Sheriff's office, Fritz is seen wearing a "Boba Fett" Star Wars character helmet, standing in front of a bathroom mirror.
Bond was set at $50,000 cash/surety at an arraignment for Fritz on Saturday in 39th District Court in Roseville. He'll be back in court for a hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
