Cold Case: $5,000 Reward Offered For Tips In Lincoln Park Pawn Shop Killing
LINCOLN PARK (WWJ) - A $5,000 reward is being offered for the tip that leads to an arrest in a Downriver murder just over a year ago.
The body of 29-year-old Mouhammad Hassan of Dearborn was discovered the night of March 31, 2015, at Platinum Pawn Shop on Dix Highway, near Southfield Rd. and I-75 in Lincoln Park.
According to Crime Stoppers, Hassan, who went by the name "Mo," had called his wife saying he'd be home from work for dinner at 8 p.m. When he never showed up, she got worried, and asked family members to go check on him.
Authorities told WWJ that Hassan, who had been shot multiple times, was found dead behind the counter.
Reporting live from the scene the following morning, WWJ's Mike Campbell said police took several bags of evidence from the shop. Peering through the front window, he saw items in the store were askew — a sign that a struggle might have taken place.
No arrests have been made and police have not discussed a possible suspect or a motive in the case.
A native of Temperance, Michigan, Hassan moved to the Detroit area when he was 15 years old. He graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn had worked at the pawn shop for nearly four years. Hassan and his wife had a son, now three years old. His wife was pregnant with a now 8-month-old child at this time of his death.
Anyone who has any information about Hassan's death is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Tips may also be submitted online at this link, or by texting CSM and the tip to CRIMES (2746370).
