4 Detroit Teens Arrested In Friday Morning Crime Spree
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say four Detroit teenagers are behind bars after "terrorizing three victims" during a crime spree Friday morning.
A 14-year-old boy, 15-year-old boy and two 17-year-old boys face charges in connection with two armed robberies and an attempted holdup on Detroit's east side.
According to Detroit police, it began when a 13-year-old boy was robbed of cash, headphones and his lunch while waiting at a bus stop near 7 Mile Road and Gratiot, shortly before 6 a.m.
A few minutes later, police said, the teens approached a 54-year-old man at Troester and Hayes and demanded money — but he didn't have any. Then, at around 8 a.m. — just a few blocks away on Courville near Kelly Road — a 16-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint of $8.
It all ended just before 9 a.m. when police allegedly spotted the suspects in a stolen Chrysler 300, and gave chase. The foursome was caught and arrested, and a gun was confiscated.
"Importantly, no one was injured in any of these incidents," Detroit police said, in a media release. "The officers from the Ninth precinct remained vigilant and diligently located and apprehended these dangerous suspects and took them into custody."
The suspects' names were not immediately released.
