4 Busted For Black Friday Thefts At Somerset Mall
TROY (WWJ) - The Black Friday discounts apparently weren't enough for two women and two young men at the Somerset Collection in Troy.
Troy police say the two women — ages 20 and 29, from Akron, Ohio — were busted trying to walk out with nearly $800 worth of merchandise from Victoria's Secret.
Police say the two women removed security sensors from the lingerie and used special "Booster Bags" to trick the security sensors at the door of the store. They were spotted, however, police were called and responding officers found the women had nearly $8,000 worth of stolen merchandise in their vehicle from a number of businesses.
They were arrested and are now facing a number of retail fraud-related charges. Their names were not immediately released.
Also Friday, on the other side of the mall, two 17-year-old boys — one from Harper Woods and one from Detroit — were caught by security officers as they were shoplifting at Saks Fifth Avenue. Troy police say the teens were each trying to steal $295 worth of merchandise from upscale department store.
Both were arrested and face retail fraud charges.
