3 Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Cleared To Do Business In Flint
FLINT (WWJ/AP) - Flint officials have given three medical marijuana dispensaries clearance to open this week after an investigation and subsequent shut-down.
Green Bean West, Sweet Leaf and Green Culture have all been approved to fill orders from patients.
Fourteen dispensaries made it through the city's site plan review, but all were ordered to close last month after officials found overdue taxes, code violations and other problems, The Flint Journal reported.
City officials say other dispensaries are working to gain their licenses.
Authorities started examining dispensaries after the city adopted a marijuana ordinance last year. That ended a three-year moratorium on the businesses.
Rick Thompson, a member of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws' Michigan chapter, said "the industry is willing to leap through hoops" imposed by the government.
