3 Face Murder Charges In Deadly Home Invasion
WATERFORD (WWJ) - Three suspects are expected to appear in Waterford District Court Tuesday to faces murder charges in the shooting of a 22-year-old man.
Authorities say the incident happened around 5 a.m. Saturday in the 7000 block of Villa Drive, near Hospital Road and Cooley Lake Road.
Officers arrived on the scene to find Jake Hershberger dead from a gunshot wound to the chest. His girlfriend told police that he had been shot by suspects who had broken into their home while they were sleeping.
Waterford police worked with investigators from the Oakland County Sheriff's Department and the FBI to find the suspects, who are all men in their 20's. Police say at least one of the suspects knew the victim. Robbery appears to be the motive for the murder.
