3 Arrested After Police Chase Through Lincoln Park, Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Three people are behind bars after they led police on a high-speed chase that started in Lincoln Park and ended on Detroit's east side.

Lincoln Park police say when one of their officers tried to make a traffic stop, early Tuesday evening, at Fort Street and Southfield Road, the driver sped off.

Miles later, after officers with Michigan State Police and Detroit police joined the chase, the car — a late model Chevy Malibu —was boxed in and came to a stop on Gratiot Ave. near Conner.

The driver and two others in the car were taken into custody without further incident.

Lincoln Park Police Commander Sgt. Don Mandel said no weapons were found and no one was injured in the chase.

It was not immediately clear why the driver fled police, as an investigation continues.

The names of those arrested have not been released. Any possible charges are pending.
