3 Arrested After Detroit Carjacking, I-94 Police Chase

DETROIT (WWJ) - Three men have been arrested following a carjacking and police chase, Thursday afternoon, on Detroit's east side.

Detroit police pursued the alleged carjackers in a stolen vehicle along westbound I-94, where they crashed near Van Dyke Ave.

Apparently unhurt, three men got out of the car and ran up the freeway embankment and into a neighborhood, according to police.

One neighbor spotted the suspects on her street.

"When I heard all the sounds I got up, came out on my porch and I looked and saw like 15 police cars, " the woman, who didn't want to give her name, told WWJ Newsradio 950's Sandra McNeill.

"And I live across the street from an abandoned house; and when I looked up the police took one guy out of the abandoned house," she said. "(It was) scary! My stomach's still in butterflies, because I'm like, OK, did you get all of them from over here?"

Late in the afternoon, officers were still interviewing residents in the area of I-94 service drive near Van Dyke but police said they were not looking for any additional suspects.

Police said no additional vehicles were involved in the crash.
