26-Year-Old Man Killed When Pickup Flips In Bloomfield Township

BLOOMFIELD TWP. (WWJ) - A Commerce Township man has died after his pickup truck hit a guard rail early Friday morning along Square Lake Road in Bloomfield Township.

According to police, the 26-year old driver was thrown from the Ford F-150 after it was hit by a Chevy Impala and rolled over into the median, just west of Opdyke Rd.

Investigators said it appears the young man, whose name has not been released, wasn't wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Impala careened right and went down the right shoulder embankment, police said; but the driver — a 27-year old Saint Clair Shores man — wasn't hurt.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.

As an investigation by the Bloomfield Township Traffic Investigations Unit continues, police are looking for witnesses.  Anyone with information is asked to call 248-433-7749.
