$2,500 Reward Offered For Tips In Murder Of Father Of 6 In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - A $2,500 reward is now being offered in a two-year-old Detroit murder case.
Jacob "Jake" Fry-Hooper left six children behind when he was gunned down outside his home the night of Sunday, June 1, 2014, on the city's northwest side.
According to family members, Fry-Hooper had been at brother's house that evening. He pulled into his driveway, at 18530 Sawyer near W. Warren and the Southfield Freeway, at around 10:30 p.m. When he got out of his car — a black Chrysler 300 with tinted windows, a custom grill and chrome wheels — an unknown person approached on foot and fired several shots, fatally wounding Fry-Hooper.
According to a posting on a Facebook page honoring his memory, Fry-Hooper was known as "a good person who liked to have fun and spend some time with his family."
He attended Sexton High School in Lansing before going into business for himself as owner and operator of Jakes' Landscaping in Detroit. He also enjoyed detailing cars and had planned to open a detail shop.
There have been no arrests in the case and Crime Stoppers is looking for tips to help Fry-Hooper's family find closure.
