22-Year-Old Man Found Fatally Shot On Front Lawn Of Detroit Home
DETROIT (WWJ) - An investigation is underway after a young man was found shot to death early Wednesday morning outside a northwest Detroit home.
Police said the body, later identified as that of 22-year-old Mark Longino, was found by a homeowner on the front lawn of a house near Vassar and Chapel, near 7 Mile and Lahser roads.
The homeowner told police loud arguing was heard at around 1 a.m. ahead of shots that rang out about an hour later.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Campbell reported it took "an excruciatingly long" time before the Wayne County Medical Examiner arrived to pick up the body, which was covered with a tarp as loved ones and onlookers converged at the scene.
There have been no arrests and no suspect description has been released.
Local resident James Thomas was among those who stopped to see what was going on.
"Somebody's son; somebody's grandson, uncle, dad; and this, like I say, is senseless," Thomas said. "We need to come together and stop this, we really do. Togetherness — that's one thing society does not have right now is togetherness."
Detroit police detectives are working to determine a motive for the killing.
