21-Year-Old Man Killed, Suspect Comes Forward In Oakland County Hit-And-Run

OAK PARK (WWJ) - A suspect has come forward as police continuing to investigate a fatal hit and run in Oakland County.

It happened Tuesday, Nov. 25 at around 11:30 p.m. in Rose Township.

Michigan State Police say 21-year-old Jamie Thomas Garcia was struck while walking the area of Hickory Road at Bone Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Over the weekend, police said, a suspect contacted investigators — coming forward as possibly being involved in the crash. That suspect turned over the vehicle believed to be involved in the crash and is cooperating with investigators, according to police.

Police said troopers are continuing to interview witnesses in the case and will contact the Oakland County Prosecutor about possible charges when the investigation is complete.

The suspect's name has not been released.
