17-Year-Old Girl Charged In Carjacking Outside Livonia Library
LIVONIA (WWJ) - A Detroit teen has been charged as an adult in a carjacking outside a suburban library.
Tanaia Simone Baker, 17, was arraigned in 16th District Court Wednesday on one count of carjacking and one count of armed robbery.
She was arrested Monday by Livonia police after Detroit police recovered a stolen vehicle — a 2009 Saturn — that had been taken when the crime occurred Thursday, Aug. 14, i in the parking lot of the Livonia Civic Center Library located at 32777 Five Mile Rd.
It was not immediately clear what evidence police had connection Baker to the carjacking.
Judge Kathleen McCann set bond for Baker at $500,000 and a preliminary examination in the case was set for Thursday, Sept. 4.
Hometown Life reported the incident has led to Livonia mayor Jack Kirksey stating cameras would be installed in the Civic Center campus, including near the library, city hall, the senior center and Larry Nehasil Park.
