14-Year-Old Boy Shot While Standing In Street With Friends

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A 14-year-old Waterford Township boy is recovering at the hospital after being shot in the stomach.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says the boy arrived at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital just after 12 a.m. Wednesday with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

While the victim would only give deputies limited information on what happened, several witnesses who had gathered outside of the hospital told police that the shooting happened on Maxwell Street in Pontiac.

One witness told police that a group of friends were standing in the street when she heard several gunshots coming from Featherstone Road and noticed the boy was stuck. A friend then took him to the hospital.

Deputies responded to the area of Maxwell and Featherstone, where they located four spent shell casings lying on the sidewalk.

Despite talking with the victim and several witnesses, police say they were unable to develop a suspect profile.

The incident remains under investigation.
