DETROIT (WWJ) - A 13-year old Detroit boy is hospitalized in stable condition after he was stabbed while walking home from a store.

The incident happened just before 8 p.m. Wednesday on East Jefferson Avenue near St. Clair Street, not far from the Detroit River.

Christopher Lofton told police he was walking home from a store with his 11-year old brother when four people approached them. The group "jumped" the boys, according to reports, and Lofton was stabbed in the side.

Lofton was taken to a local hospital where he was last reported in stable condition.

Reports say that all four people, three women and a man, were taken into custody overnight.
