10 Detroit Schools Closed Due To Power Outages
DETROIT (WWJ) - More problems with the city of Detroit's public lighting system have forced more school closures.
Ten Detroit schools lost power Wednesday morning. Officials with Detroit Public School announced that Bates, Bow, FLICS, JR King, Pasteur, Palmer Park Prep, Schulze, Vernor, Randolph CTC, and Coleman A Young Schools would close early.
Students were being released on what the district says is a "delayed closure."

Ongoing issues with Detroit's aging electrical grid have been a continuing concern in the bankrupt city; and outages such as Wednesday's are not uncommon. Last week more than 20 DPS schools were closed for a couple of days because of power problems.
Attributed to "system overload", a widespread outage last summer shut down power to Wayne State University, the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice, the City-County building, and midtown museums for two days.
