1 Killed, 1 Injured, 3 Arrested In Westland Home Invasion Shooting
WESTLAND (WWJ) - One person is dead and a second is wounded, police say, after a daylight shooting during an alleged home invasion in Westland.
Police have arrested three people in connection with the incident, at around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, at a home in the 3400-block of Glenwood near Second St.
The homeowner called 911 to report that he'd shot someone during a home invasion, police said; and when officers arrived he was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
Police later discovered that one of the subjects involved was at Beaumont Wayne Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Two additional subjects, a 24-year-old Belleville resident and a 22-year-old Inkster resident, were placed under arrest at the hospital on an expected home invasion charge.
The homeowner with the leg wound was treated at Dearborn Beaumont Hospital and then arrested following his release pending further investigation, police said.
Another twist: Westland Police Sgt. Robert Wilkie told WWJ's Chrystal Knight that all those involved in the incident knew each other prior to this incident.
"We definitely don't have enough information to establish a solid motive at this time," Wilkie said. "But what I can tell you is that all of these parties has preexisting relationships, so this was nothing that was random or nothing that the public has any fear of happening again."
All possible charges are pending as an investigation continues. No names have been released.
