1 Dead, 2 Hurt In Crash Following Detroit Police Chase

DETROIT (WWJ) - One person is dead and two are injured following a Detroit police pursuit that ended when the suspects' car crashed into an abandoned house.

In happened Thursday afternoon, near I-96 and Wyoming on the city's west side

Police said officers attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding when they noticed ammunition in the back seat.  Shortly after officers ended the pursuit, police said, the car slammed into the house.

The driver — who survived the crash — was reportedly just released from jail and was wearing a tether.

According to police, a backseat passenger was killed and another passenger was transported to the hospital.

Police said they discovered weapons in the vehicle following the crash.

No names were immediately released as an investigation continues.
