Young Students Get Outdoor Adventure That's Much More Than A Field Day

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - Some students in Castle Rock will experience an outdoor adventure without ever leaving school grounds.

The school's principal says it's more than just a field day.

"We talk a lot about critical thinking, collaboration and communication; and when you put kids in an outdoor education environment where they have to take risks and work together to accomplish a goal, it teaches those skills in a fun way that they can then take back into the classroom and into their lives," Soaring Hawk Elementary Principal Chris Neville said.

A different grade gets to participate in the activities each day this week.
