Wrong Way Driver Causes Head On Collision On I-225
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) – A driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 225 caused a head-on collision that injured another driver early Saturday morning.
At around 2:21 a.m. Aurora police said they received reports of a pickup truck traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-225. Soon afterwards the truck struck a Honda vehicle head on just north of South Parker Road.
The adult male driver of the truck fled the scene on foot but with the assistance of a Heather Gardens security guard the driver was captured.
The female driver of the Honda received serious but non-life-threatening injures from the crash.
Police suspect the truck driver of driving under the influence of alcohol but are still investigating.
