Wrecked vehicles, heavy police presence at scene of Windsor hotel incident
UPDATE: Suspect arrested after shootout at hotel in Northern Colorado
Several wrecked vehicles, including a Windsor Police Department cruiser, littered intersections along Highway 392 near Windsor on Sunday evening.
Those intersections were closed for an investigation into a shooting incident at the AmericInn located on Westgate Drive just east of Interstate 25.
According to a press release from Windsor PD, its officers were sent to the AmericInn at 4:21 p.m. A disturbance was reported there, as well as a man with a weapon.
Units from the Windsor Severance Fire Rescue were also sent to the hotel on a fire alarm call.
At the scene, police exchanged gunfire with a suspect. As more law enforcement responded, the suspect gave up. He was taken into custody without injury, per WPD.
Radio traffic from the scene indicated the suspect climbed on top of a fire truck and had officers "pinned down" before he was captured.
There are no reports of injuries to anyone involved.
CBS News Colorado's Dillon Thomas responded to the scene and reported law enforcement equipment and officers from five different agencies - Windsor PD, Larimer County Sheriff's Office, Colorado State Patrol, Fort Collins Police Services and Timnath PD - were all present.
The Loveland Police Department is being brought in to conduct the investigation into the incident.
The road closures span more than a mile, Thomas reported.
