Wreckage Of Small Plane Crash Found In Northwestern Colorado
MEEKER, Colo. (AP) — Searchers have found the wreckage of a small plane that crashed in northwestern Colorado after a witness reported hearing an explosion.
The crash happened Thursday evening in a remote area about 15 miles west of Meeker. After initially finding parts of the plane Thursday, Rio Blanco County undersheriff Brice Glasscock said searchers found the plane's fuselage and what appears to be one set of human remains Friday.
On Thursday, a witness reported hearing a plane rev its engines and banking at high altitude before the explosion. Air traffic controllers confirmed that a single-engine Bonanza 35 flying from Salt Lake City to Granby, Colorado disappeared from their radar in the area at that time and searchers found wreckage using the coordinates of its last known location.
It's not known how many people were onboard.
