Woman Who Burned Confederate Flag Says She Was Called The 'N-Word'
MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A woman in Manitou Springs has sparked controversy after she burned the Confederate flag.
Video from YouTube shows Patricia Cameron at soda Springs Park Saturday afternoon. She doused the flag in lighter fluid and then burned it over a grill.
"People hoped I got shot and called me the N-word," Cameron said, according to The Gazette in Colorado Springs. "I don't respond to it. When there's a violent response to something I'm doing peacefully, it proves my point."
Cameron publicized the event on social media calling it a response to racism she's endured in her life.
