Widow Of Vet Makes Plea To Get Stolen Motorcycle Back: 'Have A Heart'
DENVER (CBS4) - A widow is offering a $5,000 reward to whomever can help her track down her late husband's motorcycle.
The motorcycle was stolen Saturday, the morning before veteran Dale Hatcher's memorial ride, and the whole thing was caught on camera.
Family, friends and his widow planned to ride from McCoy's located at 4855 Federal Boulevard to Kenosha Pass where they would spread Dale's ashes. They canceled the ride after the bike was stolen. Now they just want it back no questions asked so they can finish what they started.
"Still numb," said Dale's widow Melisa Hatcher. "We never ended up spreading my husband's ashes."
Dale passed away last July from pulmonary fibrosis. Family and friends had traveled from across the country for his ride,
"He was kind, gentle, he'd give the shirt off his back, never had a bad thing to say about anybody," Melisa said. "He was a good soul."
The ride was supposed to head to Kenosha Pass because that's where Dale and Melisa took their last ride together.
"That bike, he loved that bike. He bought it in 2004 and he rode it … every day if he could," Melisa said.
But the custom built Harley-Davidson was stolen Saturday morning from McCoy's parking lot. Security cameras caught the culprit in the act.
"It had a purple bike horn that his daughter got him for his 55th birthday and he never took it off," Melisa said.
Denver police are investigating, but Melisa just hopes someone returns the bike, no questions asked.
"So I really hope they have a heart, or some sort of heart … to return the bike."
The motorcycle is described as being a red custom 2004 Harley Davidson Softtail with the licence 658QYT.
