Wheat Ridge Police Search For Witness To Deadly Shooting

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Wheat Ridge want to talk to the witness of a deadly shooting in the parking lot of a Walgreens store on Sunday night.

Officers rushed to the Walgreens at 44th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard about 8:15 p.m. Sunday on reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to St. Anthony Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators believe there was an altercation just before the shooting.

The suspect was gone when police arrived and has not been located. Police believe the gunman was driving a dark-colored Chevy Monte Carlo.

The victim has been identified as Guled Abdullahi Ige, 24, of Glendale. His wife shared pictures online and described him as a loving husband and father.

Police are searching for witnesses who may have been or driving by the Walgreens at the time of the shooting. Investigators are also looking for a woman inside the Walgreens who is believed to have been with the victim at the time of the shooting.

"We think that she probably saw the shooting, we think she was probably within fairly close proximity," Cmdr. Mark Cooney with the Wheat Ridge Police Department said.

Ige's wife told CBS4's Mark Taylor she does not recognize the woman in the pictures.

Her image was captured on surveillance video inside the store.
