WB I-70 Closed For Hours Vail Pass After Semi Catches Fire
EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- A semi fire shut down westbound lanes of Interstate 70 on Monday for nearly five hours. One lane reopened about 4:30 p.m.
The fire was likely due to the semi's brakes catching fire, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The Colorado Department of Transportation closed westbound lanes of I-70 at Exit 190, the Vail Pass Summit, just before noon.
The CDOT camera showed that traffic is backed up at the top of the pass at noon.
One westbound lane was reopened about 4:30 p.m. Monday. It was unclear when the other lane would reopen.
The alternate route is to go from Copper Mountain to Leadville and then back to Minturn.
