Water Main Break Forces Portion Of Colfax To Close

DENVER (CBS4) - East Colfax Avenue will be closed between Oneida Street and Niagara Street into Tuesday night as Denver Water works to repair a burst pipe.

The westbound lanes were closed just before 11 a.m. when a 12-inch water main broke at the 6700 block of Colfax Avenue.

The cause is not certain, but the pipe was installed in 1890.

"Repairs are expected to be complete by 8 p.m. Water will be restored to all businesses, restaurants and hotels along both sides of Colfax Avenue between Pontiac Street and Niagara Street at that time," Denver Water said in a statement.

All lanes are expected to be open by 1 a.m. after the road repaired and paved.
