Arrested: Jose Romero Accused Of Killing Woman In Palmer Lake
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) -- A woman was shot and killed in Palmer Lake Thursday and police took a suspect into custody Friday afternoon. They had issued a warning that Jose Alfredo Romero, who also goes by Jose Alfredo Romero-Romero, was considered armed and dangerous.
Investigators say the shooting happened around 4:20 p.m. Thursday, in the 700 block of Highway 105. They did not give a precise location. There is a mobile home park on the block.
Palmer Lake police officers and deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting and found a woman dead. She has not been identified.
They say detectives were on scene for hours collecting evidence and taking witness statements.
Friday evening, the sheriff's office announced Romero was in custody.
"Jose Alfredo Romero-Romero has been arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail on First Degree Murder," the El Paso County Sheriff's Office tweeted. "A big thanks to the Regional Fugitive Unit, CSPD's Tactical Enforcement Unit, and the Bureau of ATF."
