Veterans Honored With New Holiday Traditions

DENVER (CBS4)- A group of veterans' organizations are starting to make a new holiday tradition in Denver International Airport.
"I don't think anybody in the whole United States is doing anything like this. And what we're trying to do is help the veterans coming through," said Wes Love with the group Boots 66. "What we're actually doing today is trying to help veterans coming through that may need something to eat, may need a ride."
Boots 66 was joined by the Rocky Mountain Dawgs Project, U.S. Vets Riding Club and other to help provide anything active duty members needed. They reimbursed active soldier's meals, and even gave free rides.
This started the day before thanksgiving and the groups were back out on Christmas eve.
"Most of what we've heard is, we don't believe this you've got to be kidding. Somebody is doing this for us?" Love said.
"Just telling them thanks for your service thank you for what you do. They love it, they absolutely love it," said Kevin Sonka with the Rocky Mountain Dawgs Project.
The group was set up offering cake to anyone who asked at near the tram escalators in the middle of the Jeppesen Terminal.
"This is our way of showing the veterans we do care. That we are concerned for them," said Love.
