All lanes of I-70 reopen after semi hauling carrots burst into flames in Colorado's high country

Vehicle fire closes eastbound I-70 in Colorado's high country

A vehicle fire closed eastbound lanes of I-70 in Colorado's high country for a few hours on Friday. All lanes reopened at 1:40 p.m.

The interstate was closed between Exit 243- Hidden Valley and Exit 244- US 6.

A semi hauling carrots caught fire on I-70 near Idaho Springs.  Evergreen Fire/Rescue

Crews closed the lanes just before 11 a.m. Friday due to a semi fire. 

Evergreen Fire/Rescue tweeted an update that the trailer was full of carrots that caught fire and then ignited a wildfire on the shoulder of I-70 that burned about an acre. 

What caused the semi fire is being investigated.
