Vandals Hit Castle Rock Star For 2nd Year In A Row

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - Officials in Castle Rock say the star that shines over the town has been vandalized for the second year in a row.

City spokeswoman Karen Carter said Thursday vandals did approximately $250 worth of damage on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Several light bulbs were damaged and some wiring was disrupted.

Authorities are asking anyone who might have information that would be helpful to those investigating the vandalism to call (720) 733-3517.

The star usually only shines in the weeks surrounding the Christmas holiday, but this year it was specially illuminated in Broncos colors to celebrate Denver's Super Bowl 50 run.

The star has now been turned off for the year and won't be lit up again until the fall.
