USS Colorado Crew Visits Denver

DENVER (CBS4)- The captain and crew of the USS Colorado visited Denver on Wednesday. They discussed the commissioning of the new vessel.

USS Colorado is currently being constructed. When complete, it will be a high-tech attack submarine.

This will be the fourth Navy vessel to bear the name "Colorado" since 1857.

"The first USS Colorado was named after the river, the second ship was after the State of Colorado," said U.S. Navy Commander Ken Franklin.

The submarine, a "Virginia Class" sub, is expected to be completed in the fall of 2016 and will be delivered to the Navy in December 2016.
