Top Indoor Basketball Courts In Denver

We're right in the middle of winter here in Denver, so there's typically a white blanket covering our outdoor parks and recreational areas. It makes it especially hard to play outdoor sports, specifically basketball. Ever tried to dribble or run through snow and ice? Yeah, it doesn't really work that well. Fortunately for us, we have tons of indoor recreational centers that each have their own basketball courts, so your hoop dreams can keep on living year-round. If you're looking for a place to play some pick-up, or just shoot around with some buddies, check out these great indoor courts in the Denver Metro area.
Charles E. Whitlock Recreation Center
1555 Dover St.
Lakewood, CO 80215
(303) 987-4800
www.lakewood.org

One of Lakewood's premier recreation centers, Whitlock is especially great for basketball. Along with their other great amenities (pool, rock climbing wall, squash courts and weight room) Whitlock has three full basketball courts and it's fairly easy to get a good pick-up game going. They do offer tons of other activities that take place on the courts, so be sure to call ahead or check their online schedule before heading down.

Apex Recreation Center
13150 W. 72nd Ave.
Arvada, CO 80005
(303) 424-2739
www.apexprd.org

With one of the larger indoor water parks in the state, as well as a massive ice arena, the Apex center is also home to a huge gymnasium. If you're looking to play pick-up, the Apex is great because of the large number of people that use the center, however, there is also more than enough room to work on your game by yourself. When it comes to public indoor courts, it doesn't get much better than the Apex Center.

Eastridge Recreation Center
9568 S. University Blvd.
Highlands Ranch, CO 80126
(303) 471-8856
www.hrcaonline.org

Eastridge is another typical recreation center, but the plus here is that they stay open an hour later than other popular ones. For example, Whitlock closes at 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 p.m. on Friday, while Eastridge stays open until 10 p.m. every weekday. Not only that, but they have tons of leagues to join, as well as time slots set aside specifically for adult drop-in basketball. Like Whitlock, be sure to check their schedule before going, as they too host other events throughout the week.

Gold Crown Field House
150 S. Harlan St.
Lakewood, CO 80226
(303) 233-6776
www.goldcrownfoundation.com

The Gold Crown Foundation's Field House is the premier indoor basketball court in the state. They have over 20 courts, as well as scoreboards and a score table. The only issue here is that it's expensive, and not available for drop-in, but you can rent courts over certain time slots for practices, games, etc., and when split between more players, the cost is much more reasonable. If you're looking for a place to bring a team, or host a legitimate game between friends, Gold Crown is the place to go.

Central Park Recreation Center
9651 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Denver, CO 80238
(720) 865-0750
www.denvergov.org

One of the better recreation centers in the city, Central Park Recreation Center is great for basketball, especially because their gym is pretty much solely dedicated to the sport. If you look at the schedule, there are rarely any times when it's closed, meaning there's always an open hoop to shoot on. Also, they too set up specific times dedicated only to adult basketball, with ages 21 and up only sessions scheduled fairly regularly.
